If you’re a DIY person, you already know — measuring alone is one of the hardest parts of any project. Try measuring from the floor to the ceiling by yourself and the tape just bends, twists, and becomes useless. That’s where laser tape measures promise to change everything, and why many people are now searching for the best laser measuring tools to make projects faster and easier.
I picked up five of the most popular laser and hybrid tape measures to see if they’re actually worth the extra money. I tested them for accuracy, screen visibility, and durability to find out which ones really hold up in real-world use.

The Tape Measures I Tested
I tested five laser tape measures ranging from simple laser-only devices to high-end hybrid models with digital features.
Bosch Blaze Laser Measure — $38.97
A small, compact laser-only distance measure with just two buttons: one to activate the laser and measure distance, and another to round measurements and switch units (feet, meters, centimeters). Bosch claims a 100 ft laser range, which we put to the test.
Lexivon Digital Tape Measure — $59.97
A hybrid tape measure, combining a traditional 16 ft auto-lock tape with a digital laser that claims a 130 ft range. This is one of the best laser tape measure options for people who want both features in a single tool.
Fanttik A10 Pro — $79.99
The sleekest-looking laser tape measure in the lineup. It has a 9.8 ft auto-lock tape, multiple measurement modes (distance, area, volume), and a laser that claims a 165 ft range. Fanttik also claims the screen is bright enough to read outdoors.
Almighty Tools Tape Measure — $95.99
Another hybrid tape measure with a 16 ft tape, but a massive 328 ft laser range, the longest in this test. This laser tape measure also includes crosshair markings, a tripod mount, and leveling features.
Reekon T1 Tomahawk — $259
The most expensive option by far, but it immediately feels premium. It has a 25 ft tape with a digital screen that displays the measurement as you pull the tape out. It doesn’t measure distance with a laser, but it does include a green laser guide for precise markings and integrates with the Rock Jobsite app.
How I Tested
The first test focused on accuracy, since a laser tape measure is only useful if it delivers precise measurements. I used the laser measuring tools indoors and outdoors, taking multiple readings to evaluate consistency and accuracy.
Accuracy Test (Indoor – 13 Feet)
The first test was accuracy. If a laser can’t provide an accurate measurement, there’s no point in using it. I stood 13 feet from the wall and took multiple readings with each tape measure to see how close and consistent they were.
Laser Distance Measure
We tested several popular laser distance measure models to see how consistent and accurate their readings were at 13 feet. Here’s what we found:
| Tape Measure | Consistent Reading | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Bosch Blaze | 13ft 5/16 in | Very consistent, easy to read |
| Lexivon | 13 ft 1/4 in | Consistent, fraction is small |
| Fanttik A10 Pro | 13ft | Exact reading, bright screen |
| Almighty Tools | 13ft | Consistent results |
| Reekon T1 | 13ft (tape) | Large, easy-to-read screen |
Key takeaway
All laser measuring tools used in this test performed well indoors, with the Fanttik and Almighty giving the cleanest readings. The Reekon stood out for readability, even though it uses a physical tape instead of laser distance measuring.
Long-Distance Accuracy Test (Outdoor – 50 Feet)
Most of these devices claim long laser ranges, so the next test was outdoors. I measured from 50 feet away to see if the lasers stayed accurate and consistent — and how readable the screens were in bright sunlight.
Accuracy Results – 50 ft (Outdoor)
We tested several popular laser measuring tapes outdoors to see how consistent their readings were at longer distances and how well their screens performed in sunlight. Here are the results:
| Tape Measure | Final Reading | Consistency | Screen Visibility |
|---|---|---|---|
| Bosch Blaze | 48 ft 11 in | Very consistent | Bright, easy to read |
| Lexivon | 48 ft 11 in | Consistent | Readable, fraction small |
| Fanttik A10 Pro | 48.57 ft | Slight variation | Screen struggled in sun |
| Almighty Tools | 49ft | Slight variation | Very visible outdoors |
| Reekon T1 | N/A | N/A | Tape-only |
Key takeaway
The Bosch and Lexivon delivered the most consistent results outdoors. The Almighty Tools laser tape measure handled sunlight the best, while the Fanttik struggled more with visibility and consistency at longer distances. While Reekon is a tape-only, so no laser measurement results were recorded.
Durability Test
Durability matters, especially when tools are used on ladders or job sites. That’s why I tested their build quality, drop resistance, and overall sturdiness to see which laser measuring tools could handle real-world wear and tear without failing.
Waist Height Drop
I first dropped each laser tape measure from waist height to see if they continued functioning normally. Here are the results:
Bosch Blaze: Batteries popped out, but once reinserted, everything worked fine.
Lexivon: Tape worked, but the screen began showing error messages.
Fanttik A10 Pro: Tape and laser continued working normally.
Almighty Tools: No issues after the drop; laser and screen worked fine.
Reekon T1: Tape, laser guide, and screen all worked perfectly.
Ladder Height Drop (6 ft)
Next, I dropped each laser tape measure from 6 feet, simulating a fall from a ladder. Here are the results from this test:
Bosch Blaze: Passed with no issues — laser still worked.
Lexivon: Screen completely stopped working after this drop.
Fanttik A10 Pro: Tape worked, but the laser failed and wouldn’t register measurements.
Almighty Tools: Screen cover popped off, but laser and tape still worked properly.
Reekon T1: Continued functioning with no noticeable issues.
Final Verdict: Which Laser Tape Measure Is Best?
After testing multiple models for accuracy, consistency, and usability, each laser tape measure clearly shines in its own category.
Best Laser-Only Option: Bosch Blaze Laser Measure
The Bosch laser measure is consistent, accurate, compact, and durable. Its bright, easy-to-read screen performs well outdoors, and it handled multiple drops without issue. As a simple, compact laser measure, it’s perfect for those who want reliable a laser measurement without extra features. This is the best laser tape measure for anyone looking for straightforward, dependable performance.
Best Hybrid Tape Measure: Almighty Tools Tape Measure
The Almighty Tools laser tape measure strikes a great balance between traditional tape and laser functionality. Its laser is highly accurate, the screen is easy to read in sunlight, and it continued to function even after minor impacts. This is the best laser tape measure for users who need versatility and outdoor reliability in one tool.
Best Premium Tape Measure: Reekon T1 Tomahawk
While expensive, the Reekon T1 offers a premium, user-friendly experience. The digital screen shows measurements as you pull the tape, eliminating guesswork, while the integrated app and green laser guide enhance precision. Though it doesn’t provide true laser distance measurements, it’s one of the most user-friendly tape measures available, especially for professional users.
Whether you prefer a simple compact laser measurer, a versatile hybrid tape, or a premium digital laser measurer, the right tool ultimately depends on how and where you plan to use it. Let me know your pick in the comments — I’d love to hear which one you’d use and why!
