- How long it takes to recharge the power bank itself
- What kind of battery is inside
- How hot they get when charging
- How strong the magnets are
- If they work with iPhone, Samsung, and Pixel phones
- If they’re safe for airplane travel
- How long they last before breaking
What Makes a Good Power Bank?
1. Charging Speed (Most Important)
The best power banks charge your phone quickly. We timed how long each one took to fully charge an iPhone 17 Pro Max.
2. Battery Type (Very Important for Safety)
There are three types of batteries:
Solid-State Batteries – The newest and best type. They don’t have liquid inside, so they stay cool and last longer. They’re the safest.
Lithium-Polymer Batteries – These are thin and light. They work okay but can get warm and might swell up over time.
Lithium-Ion Batteries – These are the cheapest. They get hot fast and don’t last as long.
Solid-state batteries were the best in our tests.
3. How Fast the Power Bank Recharges Itself
Many power banks take 3-4 hours to recharge. The best ones recharge in about an hour.
