#5 Choice: Remington Wet 2 Straight Ceramic Straightener
Overview
For over 80 years Remington has been a powerhouse of innovation in the hair space with products in every category imaginable. However this broad range of merchandise in almost every facet of the cosmetic world does seem to spread itself a little too thin instead of targeting one area with expertise and specialization. This wide range is useful if you really love the Remington brand and want to go with a company built on longstanding reputation rather than amazing products.
Why Remington…
You know what you’re getting with Remington as they rarely deviate outside of their known formula. The consistency is definitely attractive to some salons and their respective clients as well as their dedication to beauty as a whole. The straightener itself proved especially adept at styling damp hair with minimal damage, a perfect option for those who like to shower and steam their mane in the morning. The Remington Wet 2 Straight Ceramic Straightener also ships from England and can be a bit complicated due to these importation restrictions.
- Extremely fast heat up time averaging at 15 seconds
- Auto shut off after 60 minutes
- Timer also beeps allowing you to know when the device is properly heated up even if you are in a different room
- Takes forever to ship as it is manufactured in London
- Difficult to reach customer service team
- Doesn’t offer a guarantee which makes the shipping process even trickier and a little bit more risky
What we found
This device definitely thrust its ability to straighten wet hair at the forefront of its features and capabilities so that was our main focus during testing. While it did impressively style wet hair we noticed that with consistent every day use the strand damage seemed to increase exponentially. It was not equipped with infrared heat technology which would have been helpful in retaining moisture and ensuring the follicle did not undergo as much damage as it actually did.
Safety
Since the device has an auto shut off after 60 minutes it definitely puts safety as a priority. However, since it does stress its ability to style wet hair without emphasizing the caution one must take when using electric tools in a moist environment we had to knock off a few points. Plus the steam that emanated from clumps of wet hair grew to be very hot and some people actually suffered steam burns from the extreme temperatures. This was rare and most of our staff was able to dodge this uncomfortable, but since these burns were unavoidable and extremely painful we had to lower the Remington to number 5.
Technology
The Remington wet 2 straight ceramic straightener uses resist micro conditioner.

Return Policy
The 60 day money back guarantee is very reassuring especially for a product that can result in steam burns so this was a great assurance that Remington is willing to put their money where their product is. They also have a refund policy available that their customer service team actually enforces and doesn’t cause a hassle which is the case in some other companies.
